This is Caesar Silverberg.

I have a report of the Initiative sending transports still in recovery out on dangerous missions, even after they declined to. The person in question asked not to be named, but I believe one of you already knows who and what I'm talking about, so they can help verify this if need be.
commentboxtroll: (this is not a yellow brick road)

[personal profile] commentboxtroll 2013-08-08 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Now that was fast. ]

The people working the transporter managed to pressure them into it, but yes, they said no. They didn't want to go. They knew they couldn't handle it.

[ Caesar himself sounds pretty neutral about the whole thing, but, well, he typically does about everything. ]

[personal profile] commentboxtroll 2013-08-10 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
...unless they're leaving anything out again... [ But he'd like to think she didn't! ] But yes, I should have them all.
commentboxtroll: (the slowest route to victory)

[personal profile] commentboxtroll 2013-08-13 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ But that means going somewhere... ]

I guess not. Where did you have in mind?
commentboxtroll: (draw a line in the sand)

Just outside the apartments.

Mister Goodman I have another proposition for you.
I would say another business proposition but I was unsure how appropriate that appellation would be since this endeavor would definitely not be profitable in nature however is related to your current line of work as evidenced by the post on which I have chosen to contact you.
You see it had come to mind how difficult the coordination of missions is especially due to the current status of Aristeas System which means we could permanently lose Transports in the past and never even know for sure what happened to them.
Even though from a resource efficiency perspective it would almost be ideal for as many transports to be on mission at once as possible.
So I was wondering if it might be possible for the Department Of Initiative-Transport Relations to perhaps orchestrate some sort of match-making program.
That would facilitate anyone at all going on mission without having to rely on collaborators who might be absent or especially in the case of new arrivals not exist on this plane at all.
Would this at all be in harmony with the aims of the Department or in conflict with anything already being organized?
speakveryclearly: Someone holds Kanaya's chin in their hand; she looks over at them, eyes lidded, blushing slightly, brows raised. (Uncomfortable)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-17 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Mister Goodman she's not doing the troll text thing she's so serious about this give her resultingly expanded messages the respect they deserve]

Well my impression was that you have plenty of liaisons already.
speakveryclearly: Its Not Like I Want To Help Out Or Anything (Tsun)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-17 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
I guess I would be willing to take on the position of some kind of assistant perhaps.

[Have I mentioned that this is like 10% of her normal typing speed do yo know how hard it is to go back and delete the capital letter at the start of evry word???]
speakveryclearly: Kanaya squishes her cheek and looks down with effusive fondness into her lap, unable to hide a scattered glow. (Flattered)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-17 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Okay then
So moving forward
What do you think would be good criteria for inclusions of veterans in the list? Since obviously completely random selection might lead to an antisocial October arrival which is barely any better than coupling two complete greenclaws together.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with pursed, green lips, looking up at the sky skeptically. Offscreen her hand is on her hip. (Tch)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-17 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yes I suppose it would be opt-in. Besides enforcement would be rather implausible.

[Ummmmmmmmm]

Greenclaw is a figure of speech referring to creatures from my original planet so young their claws are still green.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya talking calmly, possibly reiterating orders. Jade lipstick. (Words)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-18 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
By all means feel free to go ahead.

I feel like a "seasoned" fighter for Exsilium has been on an armywide mission as well as a small-scale mission and ideally has also experienced at least one other situation. Experience with all the major types of disruptive events would be the goal.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looking down with shades on and a thin, grim glow. (Displeased)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-21 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah thats the problem if were going to be restricted to volunteers.
Maybe Ill bring it up at that town meeting Kidos having soon.
cesar: (& / ashes)

[personal profile] cesar 2013-10-17 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ Someone with initiative, quite a breath of fresh air. ]

You have Goodman's approval. If you require assistance in this matter, I will lend a hand.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looking up, flickering gently, thoughtful. (Learning)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-17 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Someone who never gets tired of initiative puns and probably literally the only transport who reveres the Royal Family]

Thank you Mister de Borja. Its nice to see requests to the Department dont fall on death ears. That said do you have any thoughts on how best this would be implemented? If we could perhaps create some kind of matchmaking database or some other means of chronicling these.
cesar: (& / hat)

[personal profile] cesar 2013-10-17 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Cesare.

[ So he's finicky about people using his last name. For good reason though, he thinks. ]

The first step would be to propose the idea to the Network and gauge any interest. Who will serve as the judge for suitability? Will you?
speakveryclearly: Kanaya and Vriska are in schoolgirl uniforms. Vriska has a bandage on her neck and her hand on Kanaya's tie. (Schoolgirl)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-17 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Ah wow she feels bad now she meant to be polite not touch a nerve.]

Oh definitely not me or at the very least not myself alone. Perhaps a panel of Department members and other individuals who they know to be of sound judgment. Would you agree that those people who sought out this sort of business are collectively acquainted with a fairly broad swath of our population?
cesar: (& / shadow)

[personal profile] cesar 2013-10-18 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
Reasonably so, but not in so much depth to make such judgments, I'm afraid. Do you suppose Fortuna knows better?
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with pursed, green lips, looking up at the sky skeptically. Offscreen her hand is on her hip. (Tch)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-18 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that the given name of a transport or a poetical term for the abstract concept of luck?

cesar: (& / hat)

[personal profile] cesar 2013-10-18 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[ You modern folk got no appreciation for cryptic talkin' ]

Luck. We throw a dice to decide.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looking down with shades on and a thin, grim glow. (Displeased)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-18 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
There should be at least some Transports excluded from such broad selection though.
cesar: (& / get in loser)

[personal profile] cesar 2013-10-20 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
For what reason?
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looking over at something, not entirely satisfied, flickering. (Calm)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-20 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
For example some have never even been on missions before. And others would not cooperate.

cesar: (& / drowning)

[personal profile] cesar 2013-10-22 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
All must cooperate in missions if they call themselves Transport. And those who have not, will.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya cringes as she looks at something skeptically. Jade lipstick. (Doubt)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-22 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay but technically all being a transport means is having been plucked out of ones native dimension and that is something that can make some people rather surly.
Which is a problem in its own right but for the time being when there are fewer new arrivals than total transports I think the simplest solution is to have some degree of discretion.
cesar: (& / else)

[personal profile] cesar 2013-10-23 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
You are saying that we should exempt some from their duties because they would be surly?
speakveryclearly: Kanaya in ivory, pointing out a problem with a raised arm and trying not to be petulant. (Dissatisfaction)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-23 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be more accurate to say that I think enthusiasm should be a selection criterion.
cesar: (& / shadow)

[personal profile] cesar 2013-10-24 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
So we make an announcement calling for volunteers. Those who do not respond are exempt.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looking up, flickering gently, thoughtful. (Learning)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-24 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yes that seems to be the emerging idea.
cesar: (& / get in loser)

[personal profile] cesar 2013-10-24 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Alright. Saul will see who among us would be best for that task.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looking up with bright eyes. Wearing her red dress modestly with black gloves. (Learned)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-24 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
We are going to bring it up at the upcoming town meeting.
If you could spread the word among your associates as well that would be excellent.
cesar: (& / brute)

[personal profile] cesar 2013-10-25 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
I will.

You have not given us your name.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya reapplying jade lipstick, tainted with human blood, to her sparkling bloody face. (Preparing)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-26 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I apologize for that oversight. As Saul Goodman and I have a preexisting acquaintanceship, combined with the network ID feature, I had not seen that step as necessary.
To remedy that, I am Kanaya Maryam, resident of unit 140, unit 505 formerly, unit 705 before that, from the same world of origin as liaisons Sollux Captor and Feferi Peixes.
I was on the October 3312 mission to Russia and subsequent monster invasion, the December 3312 "zombie apocalypse", the January 3313 Black Rock and Uruguay AI retrieval missions, the May 21st Albatross affair, and worked 60 hour shifts during the June 3313 plague.
Also on one month-long solo mission as well as two paired missions each lasting two weeks.
Do you have any other questions?
cesar: (& / brute)

[personal profile] cesar 2013-10-28 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ That-- okay. That's something else. There's a beat before he replies. ]

No. My name is Cesare. Borgia. [ It seems rude not to give out his last name after that exposition. ]
