The Department of Initiative-Transport Relations seeks to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship between the Initiative and its many Transports. Our purpose is to cultivate transparency, thereby 1) keeping all Transports informed about upcoming Initiative missions, and 2) fostering a strong sense of cooperation, trust, and respect between the two parties. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions for us, please do not hesitate to contact a member of our staff. If you would like to join DITR, please go HERE.
Thank you for contacting the Department of Initiative-Transport Relations. Please leave your name and a message detailing what we can help you with, and one of our staff members will contact you shortly.
I have a report of the Initiative sending transports still in recovery out on dangerous missions, even after they declined to. The person in question asked not to be named, but I believe one of you already knows who and what I'm talking about, so they can help verify this if need be.
Mister Goodman I have another proposition for you. I would say another business proposition but I was unsure how appropriate that appellation would be since this endeavor would definitely not be profitable in nature however is related to your current line of work as evidenced by the post on which I have chosen to contact you. You see it had come to mind how difficult the coordination of missions is especially due to the current status of Aristeas System which means we could permanently lose Transports in the past and never even know for sure what happened to them. Even though from a resource efficiency perspective it would almost be ideal for as many transports to be on mission at once as possible. So I was wondering if it might be possible for the Department Of Initiative-Transport Relations to perhaps orchestrate some sort of match-making program. That would facilitate anyone at all going on mission without having to rely on collaborators who might be absent or especially in the case of new arrivals not exist on this plane at all. Would this at all be in harmony with the aims of the Department or in conflict with anything already being organized?
I guess I would be willing to take on the position of some kind of assistant perhaps.
[Have I mentioned that this is like 10% of her normal typing speed do yo know how hard it is to go back and delete the capital letter at the start of evry word???]
Okay then So moving forward What do you think would be good criteria for inclusions of veterans in the list? Since obviously completely random selection might lead to an antisocial October arrival which is barely any better than coupling two complete greenclaws together.
I feel like a "seasoned" fighter for Exsilium has been on an armywide mission as well as a small-scale mission and ideally has also experienced at least one other situation. Experience with all the major types of disruptive events would be the goal.
Sounds reasonable. The only thing is, I worry about the paper vs. real world application of this — I think our first course of action should be to conduct a poll of sorts & see who's interested.
[Someone who never gets tired of initiative puns and probably literally the only transport who reveres the Royal Family]
Thank you Mister de Borja. Its nice to see requests to the Department dont fall on death ears. That said do you have any thoughts on how best this would be implemented? If we could perhaps create some kind of matchmaking database or some other means of chronicling these.
[Ah wow she feels bad now she meant to be polite not touch a nerve.]
Oh definitely not me or at the very least not myself alone. Perhaps a panel of Department members and other individuals who they know to be of sound judgment. Would you agree that those people who sought out this sort of business are collectively acquainted with a fairly broad swath of our population?
Okay but technically all being a transport means is having been plucked out of ones native dimension and that is something that can make some people rather surly. Which is a problem in its own right but for the time being when there are fewer new arrivals than total transports I think the simplest solution is to have some degree of discretion.
I apologize for that oversight. As Saul Goodman and I have a preexisting acquaintanceship, combined with the network ID feature, I had not seen that step as necessary. To remedy that, I am Kanaya Maryam, resident of unit 140, unit 505 formerly, unit 705 before that, from the same world of origin as liaisons Sollux Captor and Feferi Peixes. I was on the October 3312 mission to Russia and subsequent monster invasion, the December 3312 "zombie apocalypse", the January 3313 Black Rock and Uruguay AI retrieval missions, the May 21st Albatross affair, and worked 60 hour shifts during the June 3313 plague. Also on one month-long solo mission as well as two paired missions each lasting two weeks. Do you have any other questions?

about half an hour later;
[And he sounds none too pleased.]
She — [A pause, a correction:] — this person said no?

The people working the transporter managed to pressure them into it, but yes, they said no. They didn't want to go. They knew they couldn't handle it.
[ Caesar himself sounds pretty neutral about the whole thing, but, well, he typically does about everything. ]

I guess not. Where did you have in mind?

Where are you right now? We can take a walk.

Eventually:]
I think that's a great idea. I don't know of anyone else trying to organize anything like this and sounds like it's right up our alley.
You want to join the team?

Well my impression was that you have plenty of liaisons already.

I think now's a good time to take on some miscellaneous staff.

Also: "Greenclaws" = ?
no subject
[Ummmmmmmmm]
Greenclaw is a figure of speech referring to creatures from my original planet so young their claws are still green.

What's your criteria for a "veteran"?
Also can I steal that word for potential future use?

You have Goodman's approval. If you require assistance in this matter, I will lend a hand.

[ So he's finicky about people using his last name. For good reason though, he thinks. ]
The first step would be to propose the idea to the Network and gauge any interest. Who will serve as the judge for suitability? Will you?

No. My name is Cesare. Borgia. [ It seems rude not to give out his last name after that exposition. ]
